Review Policy

BookOrSkip exists because guests on booking platforms often cannot speak honestly — hosts can retaliate, and identities are exposed. On BookOrSkip, your real name is never shown. Hosts cannot review you back or punish you for what you write here.

• You need a free BookOrSkip account to write a review.
• One review per property per account.
• Reviews should reflect a real stay or a genuine experience with the property.

Uploading private proof of your stay (e.g. a booking confirmation) can earn a Verified Stay badge on your review. This proof is stored privately and is never shown to hosts, other guests, or the public — we use it only to confirm you actually stayed.

Reviews without verification are still welcome, but may carry less weight in our scoring over time.

• Specific, factual details about cleanliness, location, noise, value, Wi-Fi, and safety.
• Balanced tone — pros and cons help other travelers decide.
• Minimum substance: short, empty, or generic reviews may be rejected.
• Original photos of your stay are encouraged (no stock images).

We reject or remove reviews that:

• Are fake, paid for, or posted by the property owner or competitors.
• Contain hate speech, threats, or personal attacks.
• Reveal private information about staff or other guests.
• Are entirely off-topic or duplicate spam.
• Violate applicable law.

New reviews may be held in a pending state while we check for abuse. We use automated signals and human review. Moderators can publish, reject, or request changes. Decisions are final, but you may appeal via [email protected].

Your review is published under your chosen display name only. We never show your email, legal name, or booking-platform identity to hosts or the public. Do not attempt to identify other reviewers or guests in your text.

Property owners may eventually reply to reviews — but only as contextual responses, never as retaliation. Host replies will be clearly labeled, moderated, and must not attempt to de-anonymize reviewers or solicit contact information.
